This map shows the location of Brick Chapel at St. Mary's City, an influential 17th-century Roman Catholic church. In 1990, archaeologists found three lead coffins that held members of the Calvert family while excavating the building site. After the exacavation was completed in 1992, the coffins were taken to several research facilities before landing at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in 2010. Beginning Wednesday, the coffins will be exhibited at the Maryland Historical Society Museum and Library in Baltimore.
