COLLEGE PARK, Maryland – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that one third of American adults have unmet dental needs. The primary reason people forgo dental care is because of cost.
Capital News Service’s video storytelling team ViewFinder experienced this firsthand at the Mission of Mercy Health Equity Festival in College Park, Maryland, in September. The event, hosted by the University of Maryland and sponsored by Catholic Charities, drew people from across the state and beyond to receive crowns, implants, cleanings and screenings. This documentary tells the stories of their victories and disappointments.
