The State Highway Administration would be authorized to post suicide-prevention information on existing electronic highway signs within 5 miles of high-risk suicide zones, under new legislation proposed in the Maryland Senate.

Farm families face high suicide rates as they struggle to make ends meet

HARFORD COUNTY, Maryland – Dan Vaughan and his family have owned Daily Crisis Farm, a small dairy farm, for almost 30 years. But as expenses continue to rise and fear of losing the farm persists, Daily Crisis is struggling to stay afloat. The Vaughans are just one family out of hundreds facing the possibility of having to close their farm. As this national epidemic grows, farmers’ mental health is impacted negatively, leaving an uncertain future ahead.

Gov. Hogan announces cancer diagnosis; bills of interest

Gov. Larry Hogan announced in a news conference Thursday that he has developed a common and “not-serious” form of skin cancer, and will have a procedure to fully remove the cancerous spots from his forehead Saturday.
