A First-Timer's Perspective

Collectively, Maryland's GOP convention delegates have decades of convention experience. But this year marked delegate Steve Kolbe's first visit.

"For years I've watched these people speak on television and to see them in person...makes me realize that they're just average everyday people just like the rest of us."

Getting Back on Track

Delegates Tony O'Donnell (above) and Allan Kittleman (below) said that Gov. Mitt Romney is the right person to change the direction of the country.

"We're having a lot of serious policy discussion and it's great to see that there's hope for getting America back on the right course."

"[Romney's] priority is helping us get more jobs, and that's the issue that's facing all Americans today."

Delegates Get Fired Up for November

Delegates Diana Waterman (left), Audrey Scott (right) and E.J. Pipkin (bottom) were energized by the "electric" atmosphere in Tampa.

"Watching it on TV completely and totally pales [to being there]. The energy down there was just unbelievable, infectious."

"It [the RNC] was very electrifying. Very, very emotional, and very genuine. The whole thing was so real."

"There's an enthusiasm coming out of the convention that we're going to need through the next 67 days, and I think that will carry through to our win in November."

Lasting Impressions

Delegates Kathy Szeliga (top) and David Craig said they would remember Ann Romney's speech focused on women and Paul Ryan's nominating speech.

"I literally sat on the edge of my seat, one speaker after another."

"I really like Ann Romney. I think that was the best thing so far... but I think the biggest thing will be tonight when Romney speaks."
