Over the past few decades, oil refineries and power plants across the United States have implemented carbon capture technology, mostly on small-scale projects. Much of the technology has been used to supply carbon dioxide to oil companies for enhanced oil recovery and to store and package food and beverages. In the next few years, though, many more coal-fired plants may start implementing the technology in order to comply with proposed EPA regulations on carbon emissions.
