Over the last decade, mid-Atlantic states have built dozens of casinos to compete with Atlantic City. Since 2000, 32 casinos have been built, with only two new ones in Atlantic City. Maryland voters approved five new casinos in 2008 and in 2012 voters approved adding a sixth casino in Prince George's County.
