Distilleries on the Rise in Maryland

Bourbon, liquor and whiskey producers have been cropping up all over the state, following recent laws that opened doors for micro-distilleries in Maryland. More than 10 distillers have submitted applications for producers' licenses in the past year alone, bringing the state's total to around 20 independent distilleries. The first new distillery in this century opened in 2005.
