The Baltimore Canyon, located less than 60 miles off the coast of Maryland, is home to several unique coral species and is a popular spot for sportsfishing. Under a new effort led by The National Aquarium, the canyon could become the nation's first urban national marine sanctuary. This would allow the government to place protection on the marine environment surrounding the canyon.
