National Museum of African American History Opening this Weekend

The newest Smithsonian museum, The National Museum of African American History and Culture, will open on Saturday, September 24. Congress authorized the museum in 2003, and construction began in 2012. It joins nine other Smithsonian museums and galleries on the National Mall. It houses nearly 37,000 artifacts on five acres and has collections on Civil Rights, Segregation, Music and Literature. Source: National Museum of African American History and Culture.
