Lawmakers increase renewable energy mandate, but scale back from more ambitious goal


State lawmakers want to increase the amount of energy coming from renewable sources such as wind or solar. Under current law, 20 percent of Maryland’s electricity supply will have to come from renewable sources by 2020. This year, lawmakers proposed to increase this to 40 percent, but decided to cut back to 25 percent.
