Former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley ended the Iowa Democratic caucuses at 0.6 percent -- far behind his rivals -- and suspended his presidential campaign Monday. Candidate Hillary Clinton won the caucus, with support of 49.9 percent of Iowa Democrats, 0.3 percentage points ahead of Bernie Sanders. O'Malley's lackluster performance shouldn't have come as a shock. Polls of the race taken in December and January consistently put O'Malley at about 5 percent. But the margin of error in most of the polls meant the real level of O'Malley support could have been as low as zero.
