Maryland 2018 budget increases spending over last year

Maryland's budget for Fiscal Year 2018, which included $30.6 billion in state funds compared with $30.2 billion the year prior, passed the General Assembly March 28. The package increased funding to education and aid to local governments while cutting state spending on public safety. The budget passed nearly two weeks before the legislature adjourns for the summer on April 10. Source: Maryland General Assembly
