In College Park, pedestrian safety measures introduced after 2014 deaths

After three pedestrians were killed on a two-mile stretch of Route 1 in downtown College Park in 2014, city and University of Maryland officials pushed the state to make safety improvements to the roadway. No pedestrians have been killed in crashes on Route 1 in College Park since then, a Capital News Service analysis of Maryland vehicle crash data found. This graphic includes pedestrians who were struck between Van Buren Street and University Boulevard.
