Recent studies have indicated a correlation between gun ownership levels and suicide rates. People who live in regions with higher rates of gun ownership are more likely to take their own lives, whether by gun or some other means.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention collected data on the number of suicides by firearm per 100,000 people from 2000 to 2006, using data from the National Center for Health Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau. Click on a county for the firearm suicide rate.
