COLLEGE PARK – @GovernorOMalley — Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley — is getting social, planning to host a live “tweet up” with his nearly 13,900 Twitter followers on Monday.
“Times are changing and we’re finding new ways to connect with our citizens and the governor really felt like this was something he wanted to do to reach more citizens,” said Takirra Winfield, a spokesperson for O’Malley.
The tweet up will coincide with the unveiling of the governor’s legislative agenda on Monday. Winfield said he hopes to get feedback from the Twitterverse on his proposals.
“It’s really going to be an open discussion and forum for him to get to know his followers and for his followers to really get to know him,” she said.
“This is all part of an ongoing conversation that we started when the governor first took office… Now we’re just using different venues to continue that conversation and connect with more people,” said Winfield.
To join the conversation, use the hashtag #MDGovTweetUp on Monday starting at 10 a.m. The tweet up is expected to run until 11 a.m.
