Families Mourn at Arlington During the Holidays

Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va., draws families and friends mourning the deaths of their loved ones as the holidays approach. Christine Hakel’s 23-year-old son, Eric Hakel is just one of the more than 400,000 active duty service members, veterans and their families who are buried at the cemetery. Hakel died after his helicopter crashed off the coast of Norfolk, Va., while his Navy rescue team was investigating a distress signal. The cemetery holds up to 30 funerals for military members and their families each day.
