RIVERDALE — Student attendance is a big problem at many schools in Prince George’s County but a new initiative is helping to turn that problem around. The “I Belong Here Initiative” has helped William Wirt Middle School’s attendance rates tremendously, a school that previously had one of the worst attendance rates in the county. Since August, sixth and seventh grade students at William Wirt Middle School have competed in their homeroom classes to have the highest attendance.
