WASHINGTON–The Van Hollen for Senate Campaign announced Wednesday that it has raised $1 million in the first four weeks of Rep. Chris Van Hollen’s, D-Kensington, campaign for Sen. Barbara Mikulski’s seat.
Van Hollen’s campaign raised a total of more than $1.15 million in the first quarter of 2015, which increased his overall campaign cash on hand to more than $2.5 million.
Contributions from Maryland comprised more than 75 percent of the funds raised so far, according to his campaign.
“We look forward to a people-driven campaign focused on issues important to all Marylanders,” Van Hollen said in a statement..
Van Hollen declared his candidacy for Mikulski’s seat on March 4, two days after she announced that she would retire when her term expires in 2017. Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Fort Washington, is also in the race for the Senate seat.
