LAUREL — Laurel residents, hospital employees and government officials gathered Wednesday night for a hearing to discuss the implications of the Laurel Regional Hospital’s closing. Dimensions Healthcare Systems announced in July that the hospital would close by 2018, citing monetary losses and a 20 percent decrease in enrollment since 2013.
State Delegate Joseline Pena-Melynk said a bill has been drafted to require the Prince George’s County hospitals to give the Board of Health 90 days notice before a closure and to hold a public hearing no more than 30 days after receiving the hospital’s notice.
