Suitland– With the 2016 highway construction season now well underway, state highway officials are reminding motorists of the deadly consequences for highway workers caused by drivers who fail to stay alert when driving through work zones. During 2014 in Maryland, nine people were killed in work zone-related crashes, including workers, drivers and passengers. Nationally, 700 people are killed every year in work zone crashes.
