COLLEGE PARK, Maryland — Just one day after being reinstated by the University System of Maryland Board of Regents, University of Maryland football head coach DJ Durkin was fired. Durkin’s reinstatement on Tuesday resulted in an immediate backlash, first local, then going national. University President Wallace Loh issued a statement Wednesday evening saying he had dismissed Durkin in the “best interest of the University of Maryland.”
