Gaithersburg, MD- The Silver Spring Justice Coalition and the family of Ryan Leroux are demanding for change in how police respond to mental health crisis incidents. Leroux was shot and killed in July by Montgomery County Police officers after they responded to a call that he was refusing to pay or move his vehicle from a McDonald’s drive-thru lane. Activists say his death could’ve been prevented if police would have provided Leroux with the proper mental health assistance.
