Why are you running for the school board?
My three sons (8, 6, & 3 years old), my love for education and being a lifelong learning, wanting my community to succeed in the future, and to be a voice and ears for all students and their families.
What makes you a good candidate for the board?
Experience, empathy, education and energy.
Please name a public leader you admire and explain why.
Ed Mullaney, he’s a good guy that really cares about our community and has helped “beautify Cumberland.”
What is the most important issue facing your school board, and what would you do about it if elected?
Regaining the spark in our students for knowledge and learning after Covid and other troubling world events make this even more ground to reclaim.
How concerned are you about school safety, and what if anything should be done to improve it?
I am very concerned. Active shooter drills happen for a very real reason and we need to have this conversation. Locally, some schools could have more secure entrances.
Do you have any concerns about the way history is taught in your district’s schools, and if so, what are they?
No concerns; We have some very amazing history teachers working in ACPS and some beautiful local history books have been published.
Do you think there are circumstances when books should be removed from school libraries, and if so, what kind of books should be removed?
No, those are curated collections. Men and women could be more afraid of not being able to have a conversation than of the books themselves.
