DC Council cracks down on speeding with new ‘Steer Act’

WASHINGTON – The DC Council unanimously passed the Steer Act in its newest attempt to reduce speeding and reckless driving in the district. Drivers will now be assessed points to their vehicles when caught going more than 10 mph over the speed limit. Officials hope this will reduce the number of traffic related deaths in district streets, which reached its deadliest rate since 2007 last year.
