Iconic cherry blossom tree inspires visitors in last season before being removed

WASHINGTON- A hollow trunk cherry blossom tree at the south end of the Tidal Basin, also known as, Stumpy, inspires visitors with its persistence amidst peak cherry blossom bloom. The tree went viral across social media in 2020, now people from all over come to visit Stumpy. The tree’s roots are affected by Tidal Basin flooding, leading to the Stumpy stature, but also creating the iconic D.C. attraction.
