WASHINGTON – Spotify released its annual Wrapped campaign last Wednesday, allowing users to review their listening activity as the year comes to a close. Here’s what artists Washington-area listeners couldn’t get enough of in 2025.
Taylor Swift, Drake and Bad Bunny ranked 1-2-3 on the list.

“Luther (with Sza)” by Kendrick Lamar was the top song in the nation’s capital, followed by “DTMF” by Bad Bunny and “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish.

Washington’s top album choices were Bad Bunny’s “Debi Tirar Mas Fotos,” Sza’s “SOS Deluxe: Lana,” and Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem.”

Maryland-based artists also saw massive success this year, with several ranking among top artists globally.
Maryland-raised Rei Ami swept the charts in 2025 with her music from “KPop Demon Hunters,” a smash-hit Netflix film released in June.
Her song “Golden” was the seventh-most streamed song globally this year, and sixth in the United States. The song has amassed over one billion streams since its release, and has been nominated for four Grammy awards.
The “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack was the second-most streamed album around the world, and ranked fourth in the United States.
“Thank you to every single one of you,” Rei Ami posted on Instagram. “It’s been a wild journey and I’m so glad I get to ride this out with you.”
The musician was born in South Korea, but moved to Germantown, Maryland, at age six. She remained in Maryland until moving to Los Angeles around 2021.
Outside of music, local authors also wrote some of the most popular audiobooks on Spotify this year, with Washington-area writers representing the top three audiobooks globally.
Washington-born writer Rebecca Yarros published the most popular audiobook in the world, “Fourth Wing.” The romantic fantasy novel also ranked Number One nationally. Yarros also ranked second nationally and third globally with the book’s sequel, “Iron Flame.” The series explores a romance between two dragon riders in the midst of a war.
Maryland-based author Navessa Allen ranked second worldwide with the audiobook edition of “Lights Out,” a dark romance novel following the relationship between a trauma nurse and her stalker. The book ranked third in the United States.
