ABERDEEN, Maryland— Four people are dead, including the suspect, in a mass shooting at a Rite Aid distribution center Thursday morning in Aberdeen. Three others were injured. Police say the gun used in the attack, a 9-mm Glock handgun, was registered to the suspect. Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler told reporters no shots were fired by law enforcement. It’s the third mass shooting in as many years in Harford County.
Department of Transportation and Maryland Food Bank join forces to fight hunger
Fighting hunger is a year-round effort. The Maryland Food Bank estimates 1-in-9 state residents often don’t know where their next meal will come from. But throughout September the Food Bank gets some extra statewide help when it teams up with the Maryland Department of Transportation for a month-long food drive.
Local shelter helps with relocation of pets in path of Hurricane Florence
WASHINGTON—Shelter animals now in the path of Hurricane Florence are being relocated to other facilities along the East Coast, including one Washington shelter. Shelter officials say that moving the animals keeps them out of harm’s way and frees up space for pets that become separated from their families as a result of major storms like Hurricane Florence.
