In the Spring of 2018, CNS technical staff came together to create several twitter bots. These bots scrape websites for relevant data to incorporate into tweets. These bots consolidate information to save time and are more efficient than people.
Missed Votes
The Missed Votes twitter bot automatically sends out a notification when a Maryland senator or house member puts out an excuse for missing a vote. It was created by Gabrielle Kanik.
First Amendment Bot
The 1st Amendment bot automatically sends out a notification when the Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit releases an opinion related to the First Amendment. It was created by Gabrielle Kanik.
Daily Trump Snapshot
The Daily Trump Snapshot twitter bot runs sentiment analysis on Trump’s tweets and sends out daily summary data visualizations of tweets from that day. It was created by Theresa Phan and Jane Gerard.
Trump Fox Bot
The Trump Fox bot compares Trump’s morning tweets to a feed of Fox News chyrons and analyzes every tweet to see which tweets are influenced by Fox News. It was created by Andre Anhalzer.
President Schedule
The President Schedule twitter bot automatically sends out a notification when the President is in Maryland. It was created by Gabrielle Kanik.
Maryland Federal Register Bot
The Maryland Federal Register bot searches the Federal Register every day for Maryland related content and tweets them. It was created by Jane Gerard and Jake Gluck.
Trump Emoji Translator
The Trump Emoji Translator bot translates all of Trump’s tweets to emojis. It was created by Jake Gluck.
Supreme Court
The Supreme Court twitter bot automatically sends out a notification when the Supreme Court releases an opinion related to Maryland. It was created by Gabrielle Kanik.
