WASHINGTON – Maryland Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin met Tuesday with Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, President Joe Biden’s nominee to the Supreme Court.
“It’s an opportunity for us to get to know each other a bit better and we thank her for her willingness to serve her country in this critically important position,” Cardin said to reporters and photographers as Jackson she sat next to him in his Senate office. The two later met privately.
Biden nominated Jackson on Feb, 25 to fill the seat of outgoing Justice Stephen Breyer.
It is customary for Supreme Court nominees to make the rounds of the Senate ahead of confirmation hearings.
The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled four days of hearings on Jackson’s nomination. They begin on Monday.
