All this week in Annapolis, sailors from around the world are taking part in one of the largest international sailing regattas, the 505 World Championships. The competition features the best dinghy racers who come from 12 different countries and include both former world and North American champions. The race, in Annapolis for the first time, was last in the U.S. in 2009.
Annapolis proposal would crack down on left-lane drivers
A state senate committee considers a House passed bill that would limit the use of the far left lane to passing vehicles. The proposed law would only impact roads with three or more lanes in one direction. Offenders would face the possibility of a fine.
Demonstrators arrested while seeking support for fracking ban
They came to Annapolis to urge the legislature to approve a ban on fracking. The legislation has been approved by the House but awaits action in a Senate committee. More than a dozen of the demonstrators were arrested during the anti-fracking rally.

Maryland shelter assists with aftermath resulting from Hurricane Matthew
Anne Arundel County’s SCPA is working to make more room for Hurricane Matthew rescue dogs. The shelter had already taken in seven hurricane rescues from South Carolina, but now regions of the state with unexpected flooding are turning to Maryland for help.
