Bio


James Shea, 65, grew up in Towson, Maryland. He attended Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, after going to elementary and middle school in Baltimore. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.  

Shea is the Chairman Emeritus at Venable LLP, a law firm he joined in 1983. During his time, he served for a period as the firm’s managing partner, as well as its chairman from 2006 to 2017. He also chaired the University System of Maryland Board of Regents; the Central Maryland Transportation Alliance; Empower Baltimore Management Corp.; and Downtown Partnership of Baltimore. After law school, he clerked for a U.S. District Court judge, then worked in the state attorney general’s office.

Shea and his wife, Barbara, live in Owings Mills, Maryland. They have four children and two grandchildren.

Brandon Scott, 34, has served on the Baltimore City Council since 2011. He’s chairman of the City Council Public Safety Committee; a recreation neighborhood specialist, Baltimore City Recreation and Parks; and a neighborhood liaison, Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods. Scott has also been involved with community outreach programs and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central Maryland.
