Bio


Larry Hogan, 61, grew up in Landover, Maryland, and went to DeMatha Catholic High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University.

Hogan was elected the 62nd governor of Maryland in 2014. He founded his real estate business, Hogan Companies, in 1985, and worked in the private sector for over 25 years. He took a temporary leave from his business to serve as secretary of appointments in the Bob Ehrlich administration from 2003 to 2007. Hogan had also previously run for the U.S. Congress in Maryland, finishing second in the primary in 1981 and losing the general election in 1992 to Democratic incumbent Steny Hoyer.

Hogan founded and chaired Change Maryland in 2011, a grassroots organization that advocated for conservative tax policy. Hogan, who’s battled cancer during his first term, has also worked with Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Ronald McDonald House Charities, and other charities in Maryland to raise awareness and fight cancer.

He launched his first gubernatorial bid in 2014 and defeated Democratic nominee Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown.

Hogan and his wife, Yumi, live in Government House in Annapolis. They have three children and two grandchildren.

Boyd Rutherford, 60, is in his second gubernatorial administration. He was the associate administrator for the U.S. General Services Administration. There, he was responsible for increasing small business involvement in government procurement and for overseeing the agency’s efficiency. Rutherford also served as assistant secretary for administration for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. And he was secretary of the Maryland Department of General Services under Gov. Bob Ehrlich.
